Life Introduction
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 in a small village in Madhya Pradesh. His father’s name was Ramji Maloji Sakpal, while his mother was Bhimabai. Let me tell you, Dr. Ambedkar belonged to the Mahar caste. In such a situation, he had to face discrimination since childhood. Today this birth anniversary is also celebrated as fighting social evils like caste discrimination and oppression. He has worked to bring reforms in the society by strongly opposing the caste system.
Baba Saheb Had a Deep Connection With Agra District
Baba Saheb has a deep connection with Agra, which is called the capital of Dalits. He came to Agra district of UP on March 18, 1956. Here he addressed a large gathering at Ramlila Maidan. Along with this, Baba Saheb had installed the statue of Mahatma Buddha with his own hands in Chakkipat. This idol can still be seen in Purvodaya Buddha Vihar. Agra is very important in the eyes of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the messiah of Dalits.
On his arrival in Agra for the first time, Dr. Ambedkar had realized that Agra would prove to be a milestone in the Dalit movement. In his historic speech, he expressed his desire to adopt Buddhism and said that the basis of the religion I am giving you is Bahujan Hitay, Bahujan Sukhay. Let us tell you, about nine months after leaving here, Dr. Ambedkar died on December 6, 1956.
